Emily Quimpo, a senior manufacturing engineer based in Sydney, recently marked 13 years with Resmed — a milestone that reflects not only dedication, but a career filled with purpose, learning and growth.
Her journey began in 2012 with the masks and spares manufacturing engineering team, where she supported production through safety initiatives, quality improvements, and process problem solving. She also served as the cross-functional team manufacturing representative for New Product Introduction and various cross-functional projects. Building on this foundation, her role evolved to include devices manufacturing support, Lean process consulting, digitalization, material flow and mentoring fellow engineers. Throughout her career, she has continued to thrive — driven by a supportive team, meaningful work and a culture that values continuous improvement

Welcoming culture from day one
“What stood out to me about Resmed was how welcomed I felt from day one,” says Emily. “We have such a friendly team, and now I always make it a point to welcome newcomers with the same warmth I received.”
For Emily, it’s that genuine connection between colleagues that has helped the team meet challenges together. “We support each other through challenges because the work we do really makes a difference.”
More than a decade on, it’s those relationships and a shared sense of purpose that keep her energized and growing.
“I keep learning and improving, knowing that what we do helps each other and the people around the world who use our products. That makes it all feel worth it.”
Resilience in the face of challenges
In her current role, Emily supports production to keep operations running smoothly and on schedule — work that became especially critical during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“There will always be challenges,” she says, “but there’s real fulfillment in overcoming them. During the COVID-19 surge, we tripled our manufacturing almost overnight. Despite the risks, Resmed supported us and set us up for success — it was a powerful example of teamwork, adaptability, and shared purpose.”
Being the driver of your own development
Resmed’s commitment to continuous improvement has helped Emily shape a career that reflects her interests and strengths. “Resmed really encourages you to take an active role in your development,” she says. “I came across a great course on Lean and shared it with my manager. They saw the value in it and after evaluating the benefits, they fully supported me—including arranging funding for the training.”
Advice for future engineers
As someone who’s built a long and rewarding career in manufacturing engineering, Emily offers clear advice to newcomers:
“Follow your passion. If you love learning, solving problems and helping people, you’ll thrive here.”
She adds that problem-solving is a big part of the job. “You might be walking the production line, and an operator calls you over with an issue. Your job is to investigate and find a solution quickly.”
