Meet Krystal, Associate Customer Representative

“Can I actually do this?” That is the question that kept repeating over and over in my head with every job I applied to.

I am over fifty years old and haven’t been out in the public workforce for almost twenty years, but don’t get me wrong, I have a lot to offer. I have over thirty-five years’ experience in the field of customer service and have successfully run our family business for years after my husband had his first surgery for a brain tumor. We then decided to sell the business.

I have been a career Hairstylist, Supervisor at an international airport, worked for Federal Government of Canada in the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, sold clothing in more than a few retail stores and the list goes on and on. The point being – I know how to deal with people. I know how to “sell ice to an Eskimo” as my father, who was not in customer service business, once said.

So here I am, having completed my first month working at ResMed Halifax and I am on top of the world as they say! It all started with the best interview EVER! I felt so comfortable and accepted from the moment the Zoom meeting began. Obviously, I got the job as a Customer Service Representative – ME, the old, fifty-something is back in the workforce!

Orientation was amazing, training went smoothly, and I am amazed at the support I feel and receive daily from everyone on my team. That’s the thing you see, I am a part of a TEAM. I didn’t imagine that I could learn the computer skills that I need to keep up for the position, but with only a few weeks under my belt and an incredible source of support from my peers and especially my Manager/Supervisor, as a TEAM, we have all proven that at ResMed, it’s never too late for you to shape your future!
