Meet William Paillard, Apprentice, Global Quality Assurance

Tell us about your experience as Apprentice at ResMed.

I’m currently pursuing a 2-year Master’s degree focused on quality management, which I find both fascinating and important. I joined ResMed in November 2022, where my main responsibility involves setting up a quality management system.

In my role, I work closely with different departments to ensure that we meet high-quality standards effectively. By improving our processes, we aim to ensure that the medical devices we produce are not only top-notch but also completely safe for patients.

What drives me in this work is the knowledge that our efforts directly impact patient satisfaction and safety. It’s a fulfilling journey where every step brings us closer to making a real difference in people’s lives

What makes ResMed special to you? Why did you join the Apprenticeship Program?

When I first joined ResMed, I was pleasantly surprised by the welcoming atmosphere. Rather than treating me solely as an apprentice, managers embraced me as a valued team member from the get-go. This inclusive approach made it seamless for me to dive into my tasks and contribute meaningfully. One of the standout features here is the open communication culture. Whether it’s reaching out to any department or sharing ideas freely, there are no barriers hindering collaboration.

What sets ResMed apart, in my view, is its collective mindset towards achieving results. While objectives are clear and non-negotiable, there’s a refreshing level of autonomy in how we go about accomplishing them. This fosters creativity and encourages everyone to bring their best to the table.

Another aspect that truly makes ResMed a standout employer is its dedication to maintaining a healthy work-life balance. My manager’s flexibility with working hours allows me to fully engage in my fitness activities, enhancing both my productivity at work and my overall well-being.

It’s this blend of supportive culture, emphasis on results, and commitment to employee welfare that keeps me motivated and engaged here at ResMed

What advice will you give to fellow students seeking to find internship at ResMed?

If there’s one piece of advice I’d give to fellow students, it’s this: don’t hesitate to apply. When I took the leap and applied, I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming the recruitment process was.

Right from the start, it was made clear to me that what mattered most was enthusiasm and commitment. The emphasis wasn’t solely on having a laundry list of skills; rather, it was about being eager to learn and grow. That reassurance was incredibly comforting and underscored the company’s genuine values.

So, my message to others is simple: dare to take that step forward. You’ll find ResMed is filled with opportunities to learn, develop, and contribute, all within a supportive environment that truly values your growth.

The best thing about being an Apprentice at ResMed is….

My manager takes the time to check on me, making sure I can sustainably tackle my tasks. This level of support is very important and sets a standard for employee care.

One of the highlights of my week is the dedicated meeting I have with my manager. During these sessions, we map out upcoming assignments, setting clear priorities to ensure that my workload remains manageable and focused.

When I started, I was swiftly onboarded through the ‘Achieve’ training course, a comprehensive program that familiarizes new hires with the company’s various departments and products. This initiative not only accelerated my integration into the company but also provided an excellent opportunity to connect with colleagues across different teams. Feeling integrated right from the start has been instrumental in fostering a sense of belonging and collaboration within ResMed.
